Specialty Courts – Courtroom Zoom Protocols
All participants in Specialty Court hearings conducted via Zoom
must comply with the Court’s Courtroom Requirements.
Behave as you would in a physical courtroom
Dress appropriately. Dress as if attending a job interview.
You may also wear your work uniform or clothing if you are joining court on a work break.
No hats or sunglasses.
Choose a quiet place to attend Court. Avoid being outside if it is windy.
Cellphones should be muted, doors to rooms closed, and disruptions minimized.
Be aware of your Zoom background and the area behind you. Avoid distractions.
No playful virtual backgrounds are allowed, such as Hawaii or Space.
Try not to sit directly in front of or behind a window.
The light or reflection can affect the video.
Log on fifteen (15) minutes early for your Court hearing.
The Courtroom Clerk will admit you when ready.
Turn off your microphone and camera after checking in with the Clerk.
Do not smoke, eat, or drink while you are participating in Court via Zoom.
Do not walk around on the phone while you are participating in Court via Zoom.
Remain seated or standing still.
Do not speak over or interrupt anyone.
Use appropriate language, just as you would in a physical courtroom.
Keep your microphone and camera off until your case is called.
Once your hearing is over, turn off your microphone and camera.
Only you, attorneys, or other people the Judge requests will be allowed to speak to the Judge.
Address the Judge as "Your Honor" or "Judge."
Family members and friends may not speak to the Judge unless the Judge asks them to speak.
If there is a court reporter or language interpreter present,
he or she may interrupt to request that people speak more slowly, clearly, loudly,
closer to the microphone, or to request a repetition or the spelling of a name.
Do Not Participate While Driving
Do not drive while participating in Court via Zoom.
If you are in a vehicle, safely pull over and stop the vehicle before participating.
Failure to Follow Court Rules
If you do not follow the Court's rules, you may be removed from the Court hearing,
and the Judge may impose other sanctions.
Additional Requirements
In addition to those requirements, the following Specialty Court
protocols apply.
Only you, your attorney (if represented), and Specialty Court
Coordinators or other individuals authorized by the Judge
may speak directly to the Judge.
Family members and friends may observe the hearing,
but may not speak unless the Judge specifically asks them to do so.
If you experience technical difficulties before or during
your hearing, contact your assigned Specialty Court Coordinator
as soon as possible.
Participants must remain present, attentive, and visible on camera
unless otherwise directed by the Court.
Any additional participation requirements specific to your
Specialty Court program must be followed as directed by the Judge
or Specialty Court staff.
Failure to comply with Zoom conduct requirements or Specialty Court
protocols may result in removal from the hearing and may affect
program participation or other court-ordered obligations.

Copy requests may take up to 5 business days and will be emailed to you.
All criminal fines and fees paid will be processed and applied to the case on the next business day.
Payments made online will have a processing fee. The fee is retained by the processing company, not the Second Judicial District Court.
Paying online for a case that has gone to warrant will not prevent you from being arrested.
Please have the case number and the name of the defendant/party available for accurate processing of the online payment.

Phone payments can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling AllPaid at (888) 604-7888. The representative will ask for the "PLC". The PLC for Second Judicial District Court is a004gz

Payments by phone will have a credit/debit card processing fee assessed. The fee is retained by the processing company, not Second Judicial District Court.

By Mail
Payments made by mail will need to be in the form of law firm check, cashier's check or money order.
Personal checks will not be accepted.
If you wish to have a receipt mailed to you, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with payment.
Please include the case number and name of the defendant/party on the payment.
