
Biography
Brooke Howard was recently hired as the Specialty Courts Program Manager at the Second Judicial District Court. The court has eight Specialty Court Programs, which Ms. Howard is directly responsible for the management and operations of each of those Specialty Courts. In her role, she acts as the court liaison between Specialty Courts and other judicial, legal, government, and treatment communities. Ms. Howard leads the Specialty Courts team to success by promoting open communication, teamwork, and professional development.
Prior to this role at the Second Judicial District Court, Ms. Howard worked for the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for fourteen years. She served in various rolls within this field, including Detention Programs Coordinator and Division Manager over the Community Engagement Office. She began her career as a sworn peace officer with the Department of Alternative Sentencing, where she supervised a caseload of over 100 probationers.
Ms. Howard holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is also a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy, Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP); she is a Certified Jail Manager and a Certified Offender Employment Specialist Instructor through the National Institute of Corrections.
Ms. Howard has a passion for and experience in creating innovative programs to connect people with resources and service providers. She has coordinated many outreach events, to include Christmas on the Corridor, Shop with the Sheriff, and Christmas in July. These programs have provided thousands of local children and senior citizens with coats, school supplies, hygiene items, food, toys, and clothing not only during the holiday season but throughout the year.
Brooke is a native Nevadan; she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
