Program Description

The Second Judicial District Court has partnered with Paws For Love, a local non-profit, to incorporate therapy dogs into selected specialty courts in a manner that is safe, effective and meets the needs of clients, the court and the dogs. It is well documented that trained therapy dogs that work in the legal system can provide a sense of calm, security, and non-judgmental support to clients during legal proceedings. The dogs that are selected have the temperament to interact with people from many walks of life and engage easily over the course of their visit to the courthouse. Currently, these services are provided to Family Mental Health Court and Family Drug Court every Wednesday afternoon.

Accessible Services and Support

Paws for Love provides therapy dogs for companionship and support before and during specialty court proceedings.
