
Biography
Sarah A. Bates serves as the Law Librarian in the Washoe County Law Library at the Second Judicial District Court, a position she has held since 2019. As the Law Librarian, Ms. Bates is responsible for management of Law Library operations and staff. She assists in carrying out the mission of the Law Library to enhance access to justice and help ensure the legal needs of the community are addressed.
Ms. Bates received her Master of Library and Information Science from San Jose State University, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the Northern California Association of Law Libraries, and the Western Pacific Chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries.
Prior to joining the District Court, Ms. Bates held positions in public libraries, worked as a research librarian for a large international law firm, and interned at NASA. Her first library job was at a County Law Library in California in 2007. Her favorite part about librarianship is helping people and she is passionate about providing equal access to justice for all. She enjoys outdoor activities and watching movies with her family.
