JUDGE EDWARD F. LUNSFORD

(1919-1921)

Edward Francis Lunsford was born in Corning, Tehama County, California on January 12, 1884; when he was five years old his family moved to New York City but after two years returned to California and settled in Marysville where Edward's early education was received. He was apprenticed at the age of fourteen as a printer's devil in the plant of the Marysville Appeal. He soon became a printer and later came to Reno where he was in charge of the press for the Reno Evening Gazette as one of the early linotype operators. He worked later in that capacity with the Post and the Chronicle in San Francisco. In 1906 he returned to Reno and the gazette. He served here as city attorney, district attorney, and District Judge, He was elected to the latter office in 1918 and served from 1919 to 1921 when he resigned to go back to his law practice. He was a member of the firm of Green & Lunsford. He had been admitted to the Nevada bar in 1909.
