Biography

As a Court Master, Judge Gardner presided over child support cases, issued ex parte protection orders, and heard a variety of cases for the Family Court Judges including, divorce, custody, and visitation.

During her tenure in the Washoe County District Attorney's Office, Judge Gardner represented the Department of Social Services in child abuse and neglect review hearings, evidentiary hearings and termination of parental rights trials and appeals. She also established a program assisting victims of domestic violence in civil proceedings in Family court and prosecuted violations of protection orders in Reno Justice Court. Her early years in the D.A.'s office involved representing obligees in child support and paternity hearings and supervising the staff of the Family Support Division, prosecuting juveniles in criminal proceedings and representing the Division of Mental Health in court proceedings.

While in private practice, Judge Gardner practiced primarily in the area of family law and also worked in the fields of commercial litigation and bankruptcy.
